Welcome to our Year 1/2 Page.  At the bottom of this page you will see a curriculum newsletter outlining our learning for each term. 

Our classes are named after Famous people who have a disability - some hidden.

Helping our teachers this year will be Mrs. Lakey, Mrs Wood and Mrs Harwin.

Year 1 will have PE on a Monday afternoon and Outdoor PE on a Thursday afternoon.

Simone Biles will have Indoor PE on a Tuesday afternoon and Outdoor PE on a Thursday afternoon.

Amy Dowden Class will have Forest School on a Tuesday afternoon and Outdoor PE on a Thursday afternoon.

Please make sure the children come with appropriate PE kits, including safe footwear and no jewellery or earrings are allowed to be worn on these days. Please also make sure that as the weather changes warm clothing is provided for outdoor PE lessons.

Homework:

Children will be expected to read at home a minimum of 5 times a week. The Year 1 children will be provided with phonics books (which the child reads to the adult), and a 'Reading for Pleasure' book (which is a story that can be shared by the adult). Reading as often as possible is encouraged as it will support your children's progress across the curriculum.  The Year 2 children will be sent home with reading books to read to their adults.

Please also ensure books and reading records are returned so this can be monitored and so books can be changed.

Reading books will be changed once a week after they have been read 3 times - this needs to be written in your child's reading record.
